ACH at the Healthcare Innovation Summit in Houston

ACH at the Healthcare Innovation Summit in Houston

Healthcare leaders gathered in Houston today to discuss a question that will shape the future of healthcare: What happens when AI moves from assisting people to taking action on their behalf?

The American Chamber of Health was at the Healthcare Innovation Summit for Beyond the AI Pilot, a discussion on agentic AI featuring Chad Wilson, Dr. Jordan Dale of Houston Methodist, Adam Cherrington, and Elise Ghebremichael.

The opportunity is significant. AI agents can coordinate complex, multistep workflows and help healthcare organizations improve efficiency. But greater autonomy also demands greater accountability.

The message was clear: define what AI is authorized to do, establish appropriate guardrails, monitor its performance, and keep human oversight aligned with the level of risk.

Two takeaways stood out.

First, access matters. Large health systems may have more resources to evaluate, integrate, and govern emerging AI technologies. Independent physicians and smaller practices need practical pathways to adopt these capabilities responsibly, too.

Second, trust must be earned. In healthcare, AI adoption must be supported by evidence, continuous oversight, and clearly defined accountability.

This is where the American Chamber of Health can make a difference: connecting healthcare leaders, technology innovators, and independent providers to help bridge the adoption gap and advance responsible healthcare innovation.

Thank you to the summit organizers and Leader in Change for supporting this important conversation.
