New Wiley and IQVIA Report Maps AI Across the Healthcare Value Chain
The American Chamber of Health is featuring a report that belongs on every healthcare leader's reading list: Scientific Discovery & AI: The Science-to-Patient Journey, released by Wiley and IQVIA.
The report draws on a summit of leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem and maps how artificial intelligence is reshaping four stages of the journey from science to patient: discovery and early research, clinical development and evidence generation, validation and dissemination, and real world adoption and patient impact.
Its message is balanced. AI is already bringing speed and new capability to every stage. At the same time, the report names the pressure points plainly. Publishing models, clinical development infrastructure, and real world adoption are not keeping pace with the speed of discovery, and across every stage the system's incentives do not always reward what is best for science and patients.
Five directions stood out: decision first discovery, sharing structured negative data so failed experiments are not repeated, AI agents that help patients navigate health systems, curated aggregation of the scholarly record and real world data, and a continuous learning loop that feeds real world evidence back into trial design, clinical guidelines, and new research.
